The Cannon

The town of Gozales was given one cannon, only one, to protect themselves from Native American raids, which were quite often, seeing that the Spaniards, the first colonists, drove them off their land.

Santa Anna Comes to Claim Cannon

Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, one of the highest ranking Mexican officials, came to claim the cannon of Gonzales, but got stopped by the citizens of the town.

The Battle

Santa Anna, surprised at the stubborn Texans, brought his army back six miles so that they could recouperate. The impatient and angry citizens of Gonzales followed them and drove them back even further.

The Outcome
